2. Grand Prix der Chormusik & 1. Chorweltmeisterschaft für die Jugend
10.07.2011 - 17.07.2011
2nd Grand Prix of Choral Music
INTERKULTUR has been supporting choral singing for many years. A revolutionary, innovative artistic concept created in 1988 opened the doors for the entire choir community to a new style for international choir competition. This idea lets all types of choirs, irrespective of their artistic level to gain experience in competitions in an international environment and to obtain feedback from a jury of international experts. The opportunity of holding international competitions has resulted in long-term change to the international standard in many countries. Some of the best choirs have been on the worldwide top chart MUSICA MUNDI for years.
In addition to the World Choirs Games, the largest event of INTERKULTUR, we present a further highlight, the GRAND PRIX OF CHORAL MUSIC, announced now for the second time.
The GRAND PRIX OF CHORAL MUSIC follows INTERKULTUR's philosophy of integrating this type of competition into a larger event. This is the reason why it has been combined with the World Choir Championships for Youth and Young Adults which will be held at the same time in Graz, both competitions being arranged independently from each other. The Grand Prix of Choral Music is open to all age groups and will be held in eight different categories.
1st WORLD CHOIR CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS
INTERKULTUR has been promoting the peaceful competition of cultures and mutual understanding of people in different countries with an innovative competition concept for over 20 years. INTERKULTUR's idea of competition allows all types of choirs worldwide, irrespective of their performance level, their artistic or their ideological position to gain experience in international competitions and, in this way, to receive recognition, feel success and obtain valuable artistic advice on their further development from internationally renowned choir experts. Especially the youth are in an excellent position to contribute innovation and top performance to the international choir scene.
The majority of those coming to hear the competitions of INTERKULTUR are young people of up to 30 years of age. And especially many children and youth choirs come to our competitions to prove their ability again and again, to obtain better rankings, to show their improvement in quality or simply to experience the indescribable atmosphere of these events.
Our experience shows that many of today's young adult choirs have grown out of former university and student choirs. Their members stayed together even after their time at school came to an end and they experience fantastic human and artistic highlights in these communities. We especially want to address these choirs and give them an opportunity to find new goals by participating in the World Choir Championships.
With the World Choir Championships, INTERKULTUR aims at spreading the Olympic ideal even further. An ideal that has been inspiring choirs world wide since the 1st Choir Championships were held in Linz in 2000. But also those choirs that have so far been unable to participate in the World Choir Games or those who have already participated several times and are now looking for new challenges are being targeted.
Whilst the World Choir Games stand for choir singing in all its different facets, the World Choir Championships are dedicated to individual categories. Our World Choir Championship 2011 puts the singing youth from all over the world at the centre of peaceful competitions. The championship addresses children choirs, youth choirs and young adult choirs worldwide. The age range in most of the categories is set so broadly that in addition to children only, school and university choirs, numerous adult choirs can also register in the different categories.
