Charity Concert Wolfgang Niegelhell
His motto is: Music makes life visible! Here is some information on this charity event: A few years ago, Wolfgang Niegelhell, who owns a guide dog, personally experienced how difficult it can be to finance such a valuable ‘helping hand on four paws’ and only with the help of several generous donors was he able to acquire ‘Colima’. This was also the moment Wolfgang decided to extend some of the help he was given at this difficult time in his life to others, and he took the first steps to initiate a foundation that finances guide dogs for the blind. The first large charity event was a concert in the Stadthalle Graz in 2006, ‘Ein Traum wird wahr’ [A Dream Comes True], which over 3,000 people attended and which was an immediate success. Since then, and with the help of donations and through various charity events, Wolfgang Niegelhell has accumulated EURO 40,000.- for his foundation and, in addition, has been able to support various owners of guide dogs in situations of dire need. Once again this year, a charity event with the name ‘2 legs for 4 paws’ will be held in support of the foundation and a charity relay run will lead Wolfgang Niegelhell through the whole of Austria. The relay runners and Wolfgang will distribute the Light of Peace in all provincial capitals and collect donations for his foundation. In addition, there will be guide dog performances and information events on the integration of disabled people. The festive final stage will reach Graz on Advent Saturday, the 28 November 2009. Wolfgang Niegelhell’s 2nd charity concert in the Stadthalle Graz on 18 December 2009 will constitute the great finale of the ’2 LEGS for 4 PAWS’ project, and the relay runners’ entry ceremony, as well as the announcement of the amount of donations collected during the charity run, will be a particularly emotional highlight. As in the past, a large orchestra will form the backdrop of Wolfgang’s sentimental ballads and his rhythmic, almost acrobatic pieces on the panpipe. An extra Christmas Special which could not be omitted is that the net-income of the ticket sales will be donated in their entirety to the ‘Wolfgang Niegelhell Stiftung für Blindenführhunde’ [Wolfgang Niegelhell Foundation for Guide Dogs], as were the donations collected during the relay run.
