Glenn Miller Orchestra

The Glenn Miller Orchestra, directed by Wil Salden, goes on European tour with its new show 'In The Miller Mood' in 2012/2013. Over the past two years, Wil Salden has been highly successful in 17 European countries with his programme 'Evergreens in Swing'.
The new CD 'In the Miller Mood' comes out in January and also forms part of the new programme. It is an absolute must for every enthusiast of Swing and 40s Big Band music. In order to be able to triumph with this programme, Wil Salden needs excellent, professional musicians that are capable of producing the absolutely authentic sound of Swing in a traditional Big Band and that is exactly what he has been known for in the last decades.
The professional core members have been working together for several years, but last year some young super talents joined them. The main focus of the show lies, of course, on the music of Glenn Miller, and the unmistakable sound he created made him an idol already within his own life time.
An homage to other orchestra leaders such as Woody Herman, Count Basie and Harry James and their typical compositions rounds off the programme, which also includes tributes to Ella Fitzgerald, the best female singer of all times.
In addition to pure instrumental titles, the vocal part is not neglected either and some enticing melodies in the Glenn Miller Sweet Sound are presented by the band's singer. The stage appearance of the Moonlight Serenaders, the Close Harmony Group of the Glen Miller Orchestra, is another very special highlight.
Moonlight Serenade, String of Pearls, Little Brown Jug, Stairway To The Stars, Somewhere over the Rainbow and many more make memories of the 40s come live again.
This is certainly no small challenge for Wil Salden and his musicians.
Keep on swinging with the show 'In The Miller Mood'.
